He has been National Fellow and Member, Law Panel, University Grants Commission and Director, Institute of Industrial Relations and Personnel Management. He was Consultant of ILO on a project on Worst Form of Child Labour and Resource Person in a training programme organized by ILO and National Judicial Academy. He was a member of the Sectoral Innovation Council appointed by the Prime Minister of India to review labour laws. Prof. Srivastava is presently Secretary General, National Labour Law Association and Honorary Professor, Maharashtra National Law University, Aurangabad and Sharda University, Greater Noida. He has authored several books, including one co-authored book published by the World Trade Organization and two published by the Institute of Developing Economies, Japan.
